Overview & Spiritual Status
Nabi Saleh AS diutus kepada kaum Tsamud di Al-Hijr yang membunuh unta Allah lalu dibinasakan oleh suara keras.
Historical Context, Era & Lineage
Prophet Salih (AS) was commissioned to the Arabian tribe of Thamud, who succeeded 'Ad in power and inhabited Al-Hijr. Masters of stonemasonry, they carved majestic homes and rock-cut palaces directly out of granite cliffsides. Prior to his prophethood, Salih was esteemed among them for wisdom and integrity, but when he called them away from ancestral stone idolatry to the worship of One God, they turned hostile.
Major Miracles & Divine Signs (المعجزات)
When Thamud demanded a definitive, impossible sign—demanding that a pregnant, massive she-camel emerge alive from a solid boulder—Salih prayed, and Allah brought forth the miraculous She-Camel (Naqat Allah). She was given rotational drinking rights at the well, drinking on alternate days and providing abundant milk for the entire tribe.
The Mission, Preaching of Tawheed & Severe Trials
A conspiratorial gang of nine corrupt aristocrats, led by Qudar ibn Salif, conspired to slay the She-Camel in open rebellion. After hamstringing and killing the miracle camel, they insolently challenged Salih to bring forth the punishment. Salih warned them that they had three days in their dwellings, after which a deafening sonic blast (Sayhah) and seismic upheaval destroyed them where they lay.
Key Moral Lessons & Contemporary Reflection
Salih's narrative highlights the sacredness of divine signs and warns against the destructive power of a corrupt minority whose tyranny is tolerated by silent majorities. True security lies not in impenetrable mountain fortresses, but in living by justice, equity, and devotion to God.
